dog abduction takes priority over child abduction at Holyrood

“An MSP has launched a consultation on creating a specific crime of stealing dogs in Scotland, even though doing so is already a crime.

Scottish Conservative MSP Maurice Golden’s plans would see anyone convicted of stealing a dog face up to five years in prison, even though there is no such limit under the law as it stands.”

While scar welcomes the consideration of how effective the current measures are to protect dogs in Scotland, we would ask why the Scottish Government HAS not shown the same consideration for children under their care. the parliament heard calls to close the parental child abduction loophole as early as 1987 and yet no action has been taken to make the necessary changes.

No suitable criminal legislation exists for Parental Child Abduction…..iT DOES EXIST FOR DOGS.
